I HEART PENANG!

Day 1, Penang

Okay, the whole intention of going to Penang was to rest after the hectic shopping (or lack thereof) in KL and to recuperate and rejuvenate before being a millionaire intense gambling in Genting. However the main main main main reason of going to Penang too was to rekindle my love of Penang hawker fare.. i was born in Penang and moved to Sarawak when i was 5 and my last visit back to the island was about like 10 years ago. I was about to meet my long lost love, the Penang Laksa again!

you: o_O"
me: :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDd

So we were in Penang for 2 night and the 1st night we checked into a beachfront hotel and spent the day frolicking on the beach super confidently in my bikini despite the huge belly and tofu thighs because i knew all the other girls cant because they're in their burqas!

Ha ha.

Despite reviews on the state of the beaches in Penang, i found it to be very pleasant indeed with clear cloudy skies (i like em cloudy instead of sunny) and calm water and (almost) white sand..
The hotel i was staying in even had horse rides on the beach le.. damn romantic right.. imagine riding off into the sun with your knight in shining armour on a white horse.... wahhhhh..

but the horse was brown.

and the knight in shining armour is SO un-knightlike.

Cheh. so overrated that fairytale ending.

I was told that the island in the distance is called Pulau Tikus (Mouse Island [!!!]) because of its miniscule size, and not because it was filled with rats as i had thought. Heh heh.

Like my Brazil jersey? hee hee. I do too. :P

Day 2, Penang

The next day we checked out of the beach hotel and checked into the Northam All Suites nearby Gurney Drive which is in the town area. This hotel is really to rave about man. The published rate was 600++ for the cheapest suite (all units are suites) but there was a promo which had the Studio Suite only going for RM200++. I loved it i loved it i loved it. I booked this hotel because it came with its own private jacuzzi in the bathroom.. nyeh heh heh. >:D

Upon checking in, we were served with welcoming drinks at the reception.. i thought it was champagne or at least had some alcohol in it because this is a business hotel and very adult-ish so i walloped the whole glass one go..

Cheh.

Apple juice.

Sparkling and bubbly one some more.

Buat syiok only.

So anyway, i was so excited about the jacuzzi that i forgotten to take pictures of the living room, the business cum study area, and the guest toilet.. so i ended up with pictures of the bed and the bathroom. heh heh. sorry a. The bathroom and bedroom area was really cool though cos it had what seemed like a glass window separating it, but was actually just a blind which when drawn up, was just a big huge hole through the wall. I could watch my tv while lying in the jacuzzi too man. Service was so good, we had the hotel calling up once in the day and once at night to check if we needed anything.. Tips given were a bomb tho. However, it was bliss i tell you, bliss :)

Ok la. Call me sakai ok. But * i * personally think its one of the best hotels i've stayed in. Hrmpf.

Oh ya oh ya oh ya.

The pool..! The hotel had an infinity pool and it was on the 9th floor if i remember correctly.. ah, beautiful view. :D but a few SPGs. >:(

Being at the edge of the infinity pool made me feel like i could just drop of the building.
Hee.. song.

Well anyway, because besides hunting for good food, we had nothing much to do so it was only natural to visit famous landmarks around Penang namely the temples..
Im not a very big fan of temples but Kelvin is .. or so he claims.

We went to the Kek Lok Si, the famed pagoda and wahlau . buy this buy that donate this donate that = empty wallet.
But it was worth the taxi fare (freakin cab overcharged us jz cos we were stayin at the Northam.. knowing this because we were overpriced the whole trip in Penang by cabs and even busses because we were tourists!) and the climb to the top because the view was breathtakingly beautiful and the statues amazing..

Happy looking tortoises in a happy looking pond on the way up .. :D

Ok, dont ask me about these
statues ah, cos i don't know their names. and dont tell me i'm a bad person for not knowing. Smack you one ah.

Pulau Tikus isn't exactly an island. It's an area in Penang Island itself that used to be infested with rats. Now it's one of the most expensive area in Penang. Think Gurney drive, think Gurney Plaza. haha...=)
